Pre-Preparing for Advent in the Children’s Wing

Greening of the church is nice, but we’ve got purpling, too, for Advent!

Before I headed homeward for Thanksgiving week with my family, I made a few changes in Sunday school wing. My favorite is the interactive bulletin board featuring our Nativity windows and their symbols. More info is found on the back of the blue cards.

I also changed out the worship bags for children. Each one includes and activity pad or coloring book, Christmas book and Nativity lacing cards for the youngest ones.

At the entrance to the education wing, I added a Family Resource bulletin board that highlights Advent events, our ongoing UMCOR mission, has Christmas picture books to borrow and our Advent devotional. We printed up copies of a Jesse Tree devotional found online here . Our fall was spend learning about Old Testament ancestors of Jesus, so this is a great wrap up of fall and tie into Advent. The Family Tree of Jesus is our Advent skit, too!

Other updates I forgot to take pictures of include changing the children’s altar to purple, adding an Advent wreath, setting up an empty manger prayer station and making an Advent candle bulletin board for the children’s worship room.

Now that I’ve got everything squared away at work until Saturday’s greening of the church, I feel like I can enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. Peace and blessings to you and yours!
